Earthquake of 4.8 Magnitude Jolts Afghanistan Again

   

SRINAGAR: A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on Thursday, triggering panic among residents in several provinces, reports Aljazeera.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, as per Reuters report, the tremor was recorded at a shallow depth, with tremors felt across parts of the country. There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage. Local authorities said they are monitoring the situation closely, while residents were advised to remain cautious in case of aftershocks.

Meanwhile, United Nations warned of an exponential rise in casualties from a major earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, as the Taliban said the death toll passed 1,400 on Thursday, with more than 3,000 people injured according to AP.
