Referring to the recent unfortunate incident of a student taking extreme step due to a serious lapse by the evaluator, the Minister asserted that the revaluation facility provided by BOSE and the provision for providing copy of answer script on demand should be known to every student.

“This will help build confidence among the students and prevent such tragic incidents in future,” he said.

The experts from the Universities also suggested for standardization of evaluation system. For that they suggested to study different models of evaluation being followed by the Education Boards, universities and other institutions.

The Minister also called for revisiting the curriculum for primary and middle classes and suggested for coming up with a new model and books that would satiate the requirements for better communication and understanding in the classroom.

“There is a need to bridge the gap between communication and understanding on the part of teacher and students,” he said. He asked JKBOSE to take a decision in this matter and explore all possibilities including constitution of an expert committee to recommend benchmarks or models for new set of books.
