SRINAGAR: On July 19, 2012, a day ahead of the Eid ul Azha, some Srinagar markets were crowded but the retailers said the business was less than normal in comparison to yesteryears. For many, moving around was just to break the monotony.
Business insiders said, by and large, the people avoided purchases and only took the basic requirements home. Even in those purchases, affordability was a key factor. This, they believe, is the impact of the falling purchasing capacity of the customers and dispersal of the business across Kashmir.
Here are some of the shots from the markets on Monday. There is one more day to go and trade hopes the situation improves. However, weather conditions could play the new villain.
