Once again, the internet services to the people of Kashmir valley shall be snapped.

In view of the beef ban controversy, the Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday asked telecom operators to snap down all data services for forty-one hours starting early Friday – the day Eid-al-Azha is being celebrated across South Asia.

According to a police communication addressed to various telecom operators in Kashmir, cops fear that the data services could be “misused by anti-national elements”.

“(internet) is likely to cause deterioration in law and order situation,” the letter reads. “You are requested to complete (sic) snap down the data services through GPRS/2G/3G and broadband in Kashmir valley starting from 25 September 0500 hours to 26 September 2200 hours.”
