Slamming Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over his remarks having power to revoke Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) but cannot do that under political pressures, Chairman Huriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday said that Omar’s statement vindicates he (Omar) is acting on the dictates of New Delhi.

While talking to KNS, Mirwaiz stated that the recent statement of the chief minister Omar Abdullah has punctured the tall claims that the democracy prevails all around in the state. “It shows how Omar Abdullah is acting in the dictations of Delhi and he has no authority even to repeal a small law.”

Mirwaiz further stated that the mere lip service of the mainstream political parties as turned irrelevant before the people of Kashmir and that the actual rule here is of New Delhi and not of the state government.  “The government has no role is repealing the AFSPA, it only plays politics of it and their agenda is only election.”

Stating that the Huriyat (M) will publish the pamphlets in which the reality behind AFSPA and other black laws will be described in detail and will be sent to different embassies. “We will take necessary measures so that we could highlight AFSPA and how much it has disturbed the people in Kashmir at large.”

Retreating that polls have no relevance with the Kashmir resolution, Mirwaiz stated that Huriyat will decide to take part in the election fray after the Kashmir issue is addressed.

“Once the Kashmir issue is addressed, the Huriyat Leadership will likely take part in the election process but for now the polls are irrelevant for us.”
