At least 83 employees have been languishing in Central jail Srinagar and Jammu from past one week. One of employee’s leaders told a local news agency, CNS on condition of anonymity that government has taken a tough stand to muzzle the voice of employees and it is mulling to slap ESMA if the employees leadership continue to go on strike.

He said that JCC Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani and Muhammad Ashraf Bhat along with others have been lodged in Central jail Srinagar while scores of employees including Abdul Gafoor Dar are languishing in Central Jail Jammu.

JCC leader said that after thorough deliberations and consultations, employees have decided not to approach Chief Secretary as has been stated by the government.

“The government had conveyed to us that you should talk to Chief Secretary but we are not going to approach him till we receive a formal invitation,” he said.

Meanwhile, government employees observed Solidarity Day on Thursday. Hundreds of employees were seen wearing black bands and ribbon to show solidarity with detained employees.

JCC leadership has appealed all the employees to observe Oct 11 as Memorandum Day.

“We appeal all the employees to use different means and dispatch memorandums individually to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asking him to deliver justice.
