A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Gadole hamlet of Viloo village in Kokernag district in the wee hours of Friday morning.
An official said that a joint team of Army and police had cordoned off the Gadole area following specific inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team intensified the searches, the hiding militants opened fire triggering an encounter around 5 in the morning. When last reports came in intermittent firing was going on. He further said two or three militants are believed to be trapped in.
