Encounter broke out in Barbugh area of Shopian district in southern part of Kashmir on Saturday afternoon, sources said.
They said that forces led by 44 and 62 RR and SOG Imam Sahab launched a search operation in Barbugh during which they established a contact with militants.
“The militants hiding in the area resorted to firing triggering a gunfight.”
Earlier, in the orning the forces had launched a CASO in the village. However, it was lifted later.
Meanwhile, heavy exchange of fire was going on in the area when this report was being filed.
