Incumbent Langate Er Rasheed along with his colleagues was detained Friday by police at Patnitop when he was on way to Ramban.
A statement issued here this afternoon, a party spokesperson said Rasheed was going to Ramban to address a series of public gatherings.
“As soon as Er Rasheed reached Patnitop this afternoon he was stopped by a heavy contingent of J&K Police. However when Rasheed started arguing with the police officers, he was humiliated, thrashed and detained forcibly at Police Station Patnitop.”
The spokesperson strongly condemned the incident and said that the PDP-led BJP government is using J&K Police as a tool to curb the genuine voices. “Such dirty tricks will not weaken the will of Rasheed,” he said.
