In a very interesting move, MLA Langate Er. Rasheed Thursday nominated two candidates for Kashmir valley to contest the elections for four reserved seats of panches and sarpanches in state LC. Appealing the voters to vote for his candidates, Rasheed said that if elected his candidates will fight for the resolution of Kashmir issue besides doing everything required for the empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institution.
The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting convened at Handwara attended by a considerable number of Panchyti Raj representatives hailing from Langate and adjoining areas.
After detailed deliberations Shabir Ahmad Rather and Nazir Ahmad War were nominated as the candidates for Kashmir region. Shabir and Nazir are elected Sarpanchs from the area.
Speaking on the occasion majority of the speakers accused that both ruling coalition and main opposition party have miserably failed to help in resolving political and day to day problems of the Kashmiri People and as such there is no reason for any Kashmiri to support their candidate at this juncture.
Elections for four reserved seats of LC in state legislature are scheduled on December 3, and the coalition partners and the main opposition PDP are yet to nominate their candidates.
