The union new and renewable energy minister showed up at the function in a pheran and sang two famous Bollywood songs.
Abdullah walked to one of the stalls at the trade fair at exhibition grounds where young boys and girls were performing a musical show. Soon he started applauding them. His applauses drew the attention of everyone around.
After the singers finished singing a Bollywood song, Abdullah requested one of the boys to sing another song jointly with a girl. The duo obliged and Abdullah started clapping again. Afterwards Abdullah approached the stage, and started singing, Zindagi kay Chaar Din Milay Thei, Do Din Intizar May Guzar Gayay Aur Do Din Yadoon main, to an applauding audience that included rural development minister and senior police and civil officers.
The applauds encouraged Abdullah to go for another song, this time one of Lata Mangeshkar, Lag Jaa Gale Ke Fir Yeh Haseen Raat Ho Na Ho Shaayad Fir Is Janam Main Mulaakaat Ho Na Ho.
Later he thanked the audience for hearing him out through the song. “I am thankful to you. You did not cry, when I was singing the song,” he said. He asked the young singers to continue their practice and gave them Rs 5000.
Known to have a penchant for antics, Abdullah once jumped into the Dal Lake in front of press with his clothes on.
