Former chief minister Farooq Abullah stole the show with his theatrics at the All India Editors Conference held in Srinagar this week. Abdullah even appeared to destabilise a well crafted message sent out by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to the visiting journalists moments before his father spoke.
While Omar talked of a political engagement from New Delhi and dialogue with all shades of opinion, the senior Abdullah ridiculed both New Delhi as well as the separatists.
Those who think any other direction is available are mistaken, he said adding “this part will never become part of Pakistan”.
Abdullah poked fun at the previous dialogue process between New Delhi and Kashmir.
New Delhi’s problem is that when they go for a dialogue, they don’t know what the dialogue is about, Abdullah said, ridiculing New Delhi further for lack of any outcome from previous dialogues. “If you can’t take a decision, you have no right to take a decision,” he said.
On DD Kashir channel, which was supposed to be made operational from Srinagar, Abdullah said there was too much of corruption. “What shall I say, even politicians were making serials,” he said and went on talking about the role of money in the conflict.
Abdullah said there were vested interests including in the security forces who want to keep the pot boiling in Kashmir.
