“I doubt why there wasn’t spurt in gunfights before the government formation. There should be an independent probe to find out who is doing it,” Farooq Abdullah said while talking to media at his Gupkar residence in Srinagar.

He said the militants stuck in Khanyar area must not be killed and instead arrested, “They should be arrested to find out whether there is any agency who assigned the task to destabilise Omar Abdullah led government.”

On being asked whether it is an attempt to show militancy in the region, he said, “There was no militancy until now, how can it start suddenly. There has been normalcy everywhere.”

“Tourism is thriving and people are doing their routine business, that’s why I am demanding a probe,” Abdullah added.

Pertinently, post government formation in JK, there has been a spurt in attacks on non-local labourers and also on the security forces as well. (KNO)
