SRINAGAR: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Jammu and Kashmir, conducted a special enforcement drive across the Union Territory to assess the quality and safety of milk and milk products and check compliance with prescribed food safety standards.
During the drive, officials carried out 198 inspections and collected 178 samples of milk and milk products from different districts for laboratory testing.
The inspections covered establishments dealing with milk and milk products, with officials checking hygiene and sanitary conditions, handling and storage practices, and compliance with food safety requirements.
The collected samples have been sent to designated Food Testing Laboratories for analysis. The results will be examined and further regulatory action will be taken wherever required under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
The FDA said inspection, sampling and surveillance of milk and milk products would continue across JK to monitor compliance and ensure the availability of safe and quality milk to consumers.
