Firing shots were heard during an ongoing cordon of a particular forest belt in Khrew, police reports said. Soldiers are making efforts to ascertain the source of the firing.
Reports said that soldiers from 50-RR and police jointly cordoned off a particular belt of forests in Khrew, slightly ahead of the Ladou belt. The security set up believes that there is some militant activity in the area.
Cordon was in place when firing shots were heard. Police sources said there was no contact after the shots were heard. “There is no encounter kind of a thing,” a senior police officer said. “Our men on ground and trying to see wherefrom the bullets were fired.”
