The ICT labs were inaugurated at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Nawakadal, with the facilities established at five schools across the district—Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Nawakadal; Government Boys High School, Dara; Government Boys High School, Panzinara; Government Boys High School, Bakshipora; and Government Girls High School, Balhama.

Following the inauguration, Labroo interacted virtually with students and faculty members of the other four beneficiary schools and urged students to make optimum use of the new facilities to enhance their learning, digital skills and exposure to technology.

The Deputy Commissioner said access to digital tools can improve student motivation, strengthen foundational competencies and widen learning opportunities, particularly for students studying in schools with limited access to digital resources.

He appreciated NTT DATA for supporting the initiative through its CSR programme and ELFA International for implementing the project, saying such interventions can complement government efforts to strengthen public education infrastructure.

Labroo said the initiative was not merely about introducing technology into classrooms but about creating new opportunities for students to develop the skills and confidence required to participate in an increasingly digital world.

Calling for stronger collaboration between the administration, corporate sector and community, he said coordinated efforts can help create more equitable opportunities for students and contribute to sustainable social development.

He also urged ELFA International to undertake similar initiatives in other parts of Srinagar district.

CEO and President of ELFA International Nawab Mehran Khan said the ICT lab initiative was aimed at creating an enabling environment where students could develop digital awareness, curiosity, confidence and practical skills.

He said ELFA International would continue working with corporate partners, including NTT DATA, and the administration to undertake initiatives aimed at creating long-term social impact and strengthening technology-enabled education.

The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz-ul-Aziz, Additional Deputy Commissioner Aadil Fareed, IAS Probationer Aakash Garg, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Personnel Officer DSEK Iqbal Hussain Mir, Chief Education Officer Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat, Principal GGHSS Nawakadal Dr Benazir Chalku, senior officials of ELFA International, teachers and students.
