SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police booked five associates of proscribed terror outfits under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for their continued involvement in activities seen as detrimental to the security and integrity of the nation.
“The individuals have been identified as Nayeem Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan, resident of Gamandar Panthachowk; Faizan Akhter Bhat alias Faizan, resident of Gousia Colony, Khanyar; Mehraj Ud Din Bhat, resident of Pandach, 90 FT Road; Umar Hamid Sheikh, , resident of Assar Colony, Hazratbal; and Suhaib Shafi Baba alias Chamna, , resident of Diwat Walipora, Rainawari — all residents of Srinagar,” police said.
Police said formal detention orders under the PSA were obtained after dossiers were prepared against the five individuals, and they were subsequently lodged in district jails in Kathua, Udhampur, and Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
According to the police statement, these persons had multiple criminal cases registered against them. Despite being granted bail in the past, they allegedly continued to engage in subversive and unlawful activities that posed a risk to public order and national stability.
Jammu and Kashmir Police said it has been consistently targeting and dismantling anti-national networks operating in Srinagar and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and order through legal means.
