Observing that the people of the state have pinned high hopes with the present dispensation, the minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather Thursday reaffirmed the resolve to provide all the basic facilities to the people without any discrimination.

Addressing a big public gathering in Showpora, Tehsil Chadoora, Rather said no stone will be left unturned to come upto the expectations of the people.

“Two decades long turmoil has brought untold mayhem and miseries to the people who now want lasting peace to seek heeling touch to their wounds,” he said, adding, “the present coalition government headed by CM Omar Abdullah is working overtime to fulfill the yearning of the people for peace and tranquility in the state.”

The state finance minister said that nobody will be allowed to sabotage the peace initiatives being taken by the government. “Since peace and tranquility are pre-requisites for a march towards socio-economic development and prosperity, all the nefarious designs of defeated and disgruntled elements to derail peace process would be thwarted tooth and nail.”

The world, Rather said, is witness that economy and growth has picked up considerably due to the peace and calm that prevailed during the last two years in the state and the influx of tourists have shown an upward trend that helped the people associated with tourists industry to earn their livelihood with dignity and honour.

“The elements inimical to the peace and prosperity of the state would not be allowed to succeed in their game plan as the present coalition government is determined to take the state to new heights of development and growth,” he told local gathering. “We have full support of the people, who are yearning for peace and endorse policies and programmes of the present government.”
