Government forces on Thursday launched a massive cordon-and-search-operation at Drabgam in south Kashmir’s Pulwama on Thursday to trace out a soldier who was abducted by militants early today in the district.

Official sources said that a joint team of army’s 44 RR, SOG and CRPF cordoned off Drabgam village in a bid to find out the missing soldier identified as Aurangzeb, a resident of Poonch and is presently posted at Shadimarg army camp.

The soldier, believed to be very close to Major Shukla of 44 RR, who was injured in an encounter that saw the killing of the Hizb commander Sameer Tiger on April 30 this year, was abducted at Kalampora village of the district.

The army, SOG and is carrying massive searches in Drabgam and adjoining areas in a bid to trace out the abducted soldier.

As the joint team of forces was launching the CASO, massive clashes erupted and were going on at Drabgam when this report was filed.

SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudhary said that search operation was launched in some orchards in the area.
