Former BOPEE Chairman Mustaq Ahmed Peer allegedly involved in CET paper selling scam who was aspiring for Vice Chancellor to Islamic University of Science and Technology is not in the good books of Kashmir University luminaries. They alleged that Peer was involved in the Computer scam at Kashmir University when he was Head of the Computer Sciences in Varsity.

One of the senior professors of Science faculty told CNS on condition of anonymity that Peer embezzled huge chunk of money in 2002 by purchasing substandard computers and other electronic appliances. “Go and check the record. That scam came to be called Computer scam. Once his wrong doings came to fore, then Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Jalees Ahemd Khan Tareen popularly known as J.A.K tried to initiate action against Mushtaq Peer but political intervention stopped him from doing so,” he said.

JAK Tareen is presently VC of B S Abdur Rehman University Chennai.  Another Professor said that when VC was likely to take action against the accused Mushtaq Ahmed peer, a Congress Minister then intervened and the file was closed forever.

“The VC had directed then Registrar Professor Abdul Majid Matoo to probe the fraud but he could not act due to political intervention,” he said.

Efforts to contact Jalees Ahmed Khan Tareen did not materialise as he did not pick up the phone.
