Malik, who has been in and out of the hospital for nearly a month, revealed on Saturday via X (formerly Twitter) that his condition has taken a serious turn. “Condition very serious. Contact number – 96105 44972,” he posted in Hindi, making a rare direct appeal to the public.

The former governor has been battling kidney-related complications, and despite a brief improvement in his condition, he was recently shifted back to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi. Malik has been undergoing dialysis and remains under critical medical supervision.

In a heartfelt post, Malik wrote, “I have been admitted to the hospital for the last month and am suffering from kidney problems. I was fine since the day before yesterday morning, but today again I had to be shifted to the ICU. My condition is becoming very serious.”

He also lamented his financial situation, stating, “If I had money today, I would have got treatment in a private hospital. I still live in a one-room house and am in debt, despite 50 years of public service.”

Amid his health struggles, Malik has also addressed the CBI chargesheet against him in the Kiru Hydropower Project case. In a series of posts, he claimed the charges are “false” and part of a larger effort by the BJP-led government to defame him.

Malik alleged that during his tenure as Governor, he was offered bribes amounting to Rs. 150 crore, but he steadfastly refused, citing his commitment to honesty and the legacy of his political mentor, Chaudhary Charan Singh. “No one could ever shake my integrity,” he asserted.

He further claimed that he himself had cancelled the controversial tender in the Kiru project after informing Prime Minister Narendra Modi about alleged corruption. “After my transfer, this tender was done with someone else’s signature,” Malik said, suggesting that the current CBI case is a form of political retaliation.

“The government is trying to find an excuse to trap me in a false chargesheet by threatening me with the CBI,” Malik added, vowing to tell the truth to the nation regardless of his health.

Malik’s posts have not only highlighted his personal plight but also raised broader questions about governance, corruption, and political retribution. He recalled his support for farmers’ protests and women wrestlers, emphasising that his actions were motivated by principle rather than political gain.
