SRINAGAR: A massive fire broke out in the Kalwal Mohalla area of Rainawari in Srinagar on Thursday evening, damaging at least four residential houses and triggering panic in the densely populated locality.
Officials said that the blaze erupted late in the evening, following which teams from the Fire and Emergency Services department and police rushed to the spot to launch rescue and firefighting operations.
According to officials, at least four houses were involved in the incident, while efforts were underway to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent structures in the congested neighborhood.
“Fire service personnel and police teams are actively engaged in dousing the flames. More details will be shared once the situation is brought under control,” an official said.
Locals also joined the rescue efforts and were seen assisting authorities in evacuating residents and controlling the fire.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, while no casualties had been reported at the time this report was filed. (KNO)
