SRINAGAR: The government on Wednesday said it has promoted four senior Kashmiri officers of the Indian Revenue Service to the rank of Joint Commissioners of Income Tax, as part of a nationwide elevation exercise carried out on the last day of the year.
Those promoted include Gulzarin Akhtar (civil code 15507), Noor-ud-din (civil code 15508), Shakil Ahmad Ganie (civil code 16035) and Syed Junaid Aadil (civil code 16169).
An order issued by the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Revenue, through the Central Board of Direct Taxes, said that “the President is pleased to appoint the following officers to the grade of Joint Commissioner of Income Tax”.
The government said the promotions were part of a larger administrative decision under which more than 266 Indian Revenue Service officers across the country were elevated to the Joint Commissioner rank.
According to the order, the promoted officers will continue to hold the charge of the posts they were occupying before their elevation until formal posting orders are issued.
