SRINAGAR: Four soldiers were injured in Pakistani shelling in Akhnoor sector. The army said three infiltrators were killed in the retaliatory action.

Defence sources revealed to media in Jammu that Pakistan Army shelled in Khour area of LoC’s Akhnoor sector Tuesday night to facilitate infiltration.

“Four army soldiers were injured in Pakistani shelling and three terrorists were killed in Indian retaliatory action while the infiltration bid was foiled,” the defence sources were quoted saying. “The bodies of the slain terrorists are lying on the Pakistan side of the LoC and these have not been so far picked up by Pakistani troops.” This is said to be 2021 first ceasefire violation.

Details revealed that the shelling took place in Jogma village in Khour sector. “Four Army jawans were injured in the shelling while there were reports that at least three militants who were being pushed into the Indian territory under the cover of firing were killed in retaliatory action,” Jammu newspaper Daily Excelsior reported. “Injured Army jawans were evacuated from the forward area. While three of them were admitted in the Military Hospital Akhnoor, another was airlifted to the Military Hospital Udhampur in view of his serious condition.”

The newspaper termed it a “rare infiltration” attempt because Khour-Pallanwalla sector, bordering Sunderbani area of Rajouri district, isn’t a normal intrusion route.
