Police in North Kashmir’s Handwara area of Kupwara district have detained four youth in connection with the attacks on two telecommunication towers, a police official said on Friday.

The official told GNS that the four youth are being questioned by police and claimed that “they are associates of an active Hizbul Mujahideen militant”.

“Actually, they are associates of a Hizb militant who attacked these towers in Handwara. Though, the militant is missing but we hope that we would be able to crack the case in coming days,” the official said.

On late evening of May 30, suspected militants targeted a police wireless tower and Airtel tower adjacent to it in the Handwara Town with grenades. No one was injured or dead in the attacks.
