In a handout, a spokesperson said the administration had taken cognisance of certain irregularities reported during the registration process and that the matter was under investigation.

The administration clarified that the facility for on-the-spot registration is available only at the Baltal Base Camp On-Spot Registration Centre, subject to the production and verification of all prescribed documents and fulfilment of the required eligibility criteria.

Pilgrims have been advised to obtain registration only through the authorised registration centre and to strictly follow the prescribed procedure. The administration also urged yatris not to fall prey to touts, middlemen or unauthorised persons claiming to facilitate registration or seeking money or any other consideration.

The District Administration appealed to pilgrims to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity or malpractice to the concerned authorities at the base camp or the District Control Room, Ganderbal, on 0194-2416260, 0194-2416261 or 0194-2416229.

“The administration remains committed to ensuring a transparent, fair and hassle-free registration process for all pilgrims,” the spokesperson said.
