SRINAGAR: The Srinagar Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory announcing diversions and restrictions in parts of the city on July 11 in view of the 25th Muharram procession from Arabal to Imambara Gulshan Ali, Shalimar.
According to the advisory issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Srinagar, the arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth movement of traffic and facilitate the religious procession while minimising inconvenience to the public.
The advisory said motorists travelling from Nishat towards Harwan will be diverted via Shalimar Bund to the Foreshore Road and will have to use the Foreshore–Habbak–Danihama route to reach their destinations.
Vehicles approaching from the Foreshore Road via Shalimar Bridge towards Shalimar will not be permitted to proceed via Shalimar Bund Road. Instead, they will be diverted through the BSF Camp route from the Foreshore Road.
Motorists travelling from Harwan to Shalimar have been advised to use the Harwan–Darbagh–Danihama–Habbak route.
The Traffic Police also said that no vehicles will be allowed to move from Tailbal towards Shalimar during the restrictions.
Diversions will be enforced at Shalimar, Tailbal and Harwan from 9:00 am until the culmination of the procession.
Parking facilities have been designated near Shalimar Garden and Harwan Garden Parking for the convenience of visitors.
The Traffic Police has appealed to the general public to avoid unnecessary movement towards areas where the procession will pass in order to prevent congestion and inconvenience.
