SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast a fresh spell of rain and thunderstorms across Jammu and Kashmir from July 9, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated places over the following four days.
According to the latest forecast issued by the MeT Department, widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely across the Union Territory on July 9 and 10, with intense showers expected at a few locations.
For July 11 and 12, the weather office has predicted one or two spells of rain and thunderstorms at many places, accompanied by heavy rainfall at isolated locations.
The department has warned that the expected rainfall could trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones in vulnerable hilly and mountainous areas. It also cautioned that low-lying areas may experience waterlogging during periods of intense rain.
The MeT Department has advised residents, tourists and commuters to remain vigilant, follow official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable areas during heavy rainfall.
Authorities are monitoring the weather situation closely in view of the forecast, particularly in districts prone to rain-related incidents.
