People in Kujar area of Ganderbal district on Wednesday late afternoon mistook a local youth as a braid chopper, and beat him to pulp, reports said on Thursday.
Police officials said that the locals of Kujar area caught hold of a youth who they alleged was a braid Chopper. “On getting the information, a police team reached the spot and the suspected person was taken into custody.”
After preliminary questioning, police said, “It became clear that the youth Muzaffar Ahmad Wani hailing from Khalmulla Ganderbal had gone there to meet his girlfriend, a resident of Nunar Ganderbal presently residing in the house of her sister at Kujjar Ganderbal where he was spotted and taken as a braid chopper.”
An FIR 202/2017 U/S 147, 323, 341 RPC has been registered and further investigation is going on, police officials said.
