Hurriyat conference (g) chairperson Syed Ali Geelani Saturday called for a complete shutdown on April 12 against the attacks on Kashmiri students studying in various parts of India and against the alleged desecration of martyrs’ graveyard in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a statement issued by the amalgam informed.

“Geelani appealed for a complete shutdown in Kashmir to denounce the attacks on students.”

He said the reportage of NIT crisis by a section of Indian media has endangered the lives of Kashmiri students and businessmen outside the valley.

The statement added that the “vandalization” of martyrs’ graveyard by the “Indian army” shows the true face of “occupational forces” and is an evidence of their “psychological imbalance”. “India and its occupational forces want to erase every symbol of martyrs and such a desecration of the martyrs’ graveyard perhaps is a grave issue and inhuman act and such tactics will not deter us.”
