Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday demanded stern punishment against forces and task force personals allegedly involved in the killing of advocate Gh Mohidin Regoo and insisted to reopen his case.

While paying glorious tributes on 15th martyrdom anniversary of advocate Regoo, Geelani said that late advocate was highly dedicated and committed with ongoing freedom struggle.

“A joint team of 17 Jaat, SOG and Papa Kashtwadi arrested advocate Reego on Feburary 01, 1998 and blatantly killed him during custody,” reads the statement of Geelani released from New Delhi on Saturday.

The statement informs that on February 03, family members of Regoo recovered his dead body from road side which was allegedly axed by his killers in several pieces. “Major S M Ponia, SP Tahir Kaunsar and SHO Mushtaq Sadiq were involved in the killing,” Hurriyat (G) statement reads, “But establishment never initiated any action against the said officials, but  were instead accorded awards and elevated to higher positions.”

Accusing the Ex-National Conference MLA Mushtaq Ahmad Kuchay to shield the accused, Geelani said, “Though the family of slain advocate filed a case in Supreme Court, but was dismissed with the remarks that in disturbed area such cases are not listed for fallow up or perusal.” Syed Ali Geelani also stated though the case regarding the assassination of advocate Regoo has been listed at International Court of Justice Geneva, the hearing is expected this year. “Late Reego’s martyrdom has created an irreparable loss to the onoing movement.”
