SRINAGAR

Terming the IB and Army as “avowed” enemies of Kashmir, Ruling National Conference leader and legislator Dr Mustafa Kamal Friday alleged that Democratic Party Nationalist Chariman, Ghulam Hassan Mir is a ‘yes-man’ of Indian Army.

“Mir has no conscience and he has become the sycophant of India Army. It was known to us but the latest report which exposed Ghulam Hassan Mir has vindicated our stand,” Kamal told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding that it is not only Mir but State Congress president Saif-u-Din Soz is also enjoying the backing of Army and Intelligence Bureau.

Coming down heavily on Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hasan Mir, Kamal told CNS that, “this man (Mir) is hand in glove with Army and they are working on a plan to weaken the constitutional and legal position of the State to enslave people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said adding that  the Army and IB have been “consistently conspiring to weaken the party.”

He said it were Army that played a key role in keeping National Conference away from power in 2002. “It was the courtesy of Army and IB that our party strength came down from 50 to 28 seats. NC is of the view that Army has no role in politics and the way Army is showing interest in Civil affairs would one day lead India towards destruction,” he said.

Additional General Secretary of National Conference said always cried and smell foul. One of the National Daily today exposed these elements who are not only anti-Kashmir but anti-NC as well.

Kamal said that his party is not surprised the way the name of Ghulam Hassan Mir surfaced. “It is not Mir only who is ‘Yes-man’ of Army but Saif-u-Soz and others are also enjoying their patronage. Soz is claiming that Congress party would emerge as the single largest party in coming Assembly elections. He is making such tall claims because Army and IB backs him. Similarly, PDP patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed has close connections with the Army,” Kamal said adding that Central Government should take stern action against former Army Chief, Ghulam Hassan Mir and others involved in wrong-doings.
