A high level meeting with senior citizens of the area headed by home minister Sajad Ahmad Kichloo is in progress in Gool, district Ramban, where seven people were killed this morning in BSF and police firing.
According to sources Kichloo accompanied by local legislature Ajaz Khan and a former NC minister Abdul Gani Malik, is camping in Gool since morning to convince people to bury dead in a peaceful manner.
The tragedy has shocked people in this tiny mountainous village as bodies started to arrive.
Manzoor Ahmad Shan, a well known lecturer from Gool, whose brother is district president PDP and sister a Congress loyalist was the first casualty of the day. Interestingly Abdul Gani Malik’s sister’s son-in-law is among the dead too.
According to eyewitnesses Shan was shot dead by a local Sub-inspector who is posted in the area leading to clashes among different groups.
