After reviewing the progress of ongoing dredging work in Jhelum at a meeting in Jammu Raj Bhavan on March 3, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra Sunday conducted the spot inspection of dredging work going on in river Jhelum in Srinagar.

The governor is closely monitoring the dredging work in Jhelum as he is “keen for a time bound completion” of the project. Last week he asked New Delhi to release funds for the project.

The ongoing dredging process, which includes increasing the capacity of the river from 34,000 to 45,000 cusecs is a part of Comprehensive Plan for Flood Management Works on Jhelum.

In that review meeting the governor noted that the dredging in Jhelum was going on at slower pace than expected. Dredging in most of the stretches in the river was found shot of target.

The Governor also attended the awareness Mela for at the campus of Sher-e Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Srinagar.
