SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government said on Saturday that there is no proposal to establish a dedicated Tourism Development Authority for the Keran area North Kashmir’s Kupwara.
Replying to a query from MLA Mir Saifullah, the government said that development projects worth Rs 93.91 lakh under the Capex Budget 2024-25 have been undertaken to upgrade Keran as a destination.
“The projects include the construction of shelter sheds, gazebos, public conveniences, signage, benches, lighting, selfie points, hiking trails and a children’s recreation zone,” the government said, adding that the department is constructing a two-bedroom hut at Keran to improve accommodation facilities.
Meanwhile, the government clarified that there is no proposal under consideration for establishing a Tourism Development Authority (TDA) for Keran, Gumgand, Dedikote and Wogbal. (KNO)
