In response to the UN chalo call given by joint resistance leadership, authorities have sealed all the entry and exit points leading to city centre Lal Chowk. The security has been beefed up and regular check point put in place to thwart the call of chalo across the Srinagar.
Early Friday morning huge contingent of police and paramilitary forces were seen on the roads in Srinagar city laying down the barbed wires. At few sensitive places, the security vehicles were put across the road to stop the movement.
The old city of Srinagar is under strict vigil with barricades restricting the movement. The step as per officials has been taken to secure the ‘life and property’.
On condition of anonymity, a DySP told Kashmir Life that this has been done to “manage the day peacefully without giving up for anything to deteriorate the law and order situation.”
Pertinently the joint resistance leadership has appealed people to make a chalo call success.
