Cold wave conditions continued in the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh region on Friday as minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley and the second coldest in Jammu and Kashmir where minimum temperature was minus 10.6 degrees followed by Kargil minus 9.9 degrees.

Leh town in Ladakh region registered the minimum temperature of minus 5.9 degrees Celsius.

While Srinagar recorded a low of minus 1.0 degrees Celsius, Qazigund and Kokernag towns in south Kashmir registered minimum temperatures of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius and minus 3.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Mercury at the famous Pahalgam resort, which serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra, settled at a low of minus 9.7 degrees Celsius.

The north Kashmir town of Kupwara recorded a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius.

Jammu city recorded 7.4 degrees Celsius, Katra 5.4, Batote minus 1.2, while Bannihal and Bhaderwah recorded minus 1.6 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures.
