A gunfight broke out between militants and counter insurgent forces on Friday morning at Gund Checkpora area of Kanipora, Nowgam in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Reports said that a joint team of army’s 50 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Gund Checkpora area of Kanipora, Nowgam late last night following inputs about the presence of some militants.
As the joint team of forces intensified the searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.
When reports last came in the exchange of firing was going on.
