A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Sugoo Hendhama area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday early morning.

Reports said that a joint team of Army and SOG Shopian launched a cordon and search operation in Sugoo Hendhama village after having credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.

When last reports came intermittent firing was going on.

This is third encounter in Shopian district since Sunday.

On Sunday a top Hizb commander among five militants were killed in Reban village of the district.

On Monday four Militants were killed in Pinjoora area of the district.
