A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Aripal area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.
An official said a Joint team of Army’s 42 RR, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon-and-search-operation after “specific inputs” about the presence of militants in Aripal area.
As they approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter. Exchange of fire is going on,” he said.
