Noted writer and translator of Kashmiri language Abdul Ahad Hajni has been awarded Sahitya Akademi  translation award for his book “Teuth Pazar.” The book is the Kashmiri translation of short stories of various Indian regional languages including Assamese, Kannad, Telugu and Dogri.

Hajini received the translation award recently in Chennai which was given away by President Sahitya Akademi  Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari. The award ceremony was attended by a galaxy of poets and writers of various languages across the country.

AMK expresses delight for this award to a Kashmiri translator and sees it as yet another milestones achieved by the language having a glorious past. Such recognition at the national level will go a long way in promotion and preservation of the language. Pertinently, Abdul Ahad Hajni is senior member of Halq-e-Adab Hajin, an important constituent of the AMK. He is author of several books in Kashmiri language.

“AMK reiterates that it will be extending all help and assistance to the litterateurs of the Kashmiri language in their efforts of producing quality literature,” said President Dr Aziz Hajni.
