Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin Monday lashed out at those opportunist political parties who have double standards and have ditched people from the last six decades.
Addressing thousands of people after filing his nomination papers for Khansahib constituency, he said, “They talk about Autonomy and Self-Rule when out of power. They rake up AFSPA and Article 370 issues during elections. When Afzal Guru was hanged they didn’t utter a word against it. They never talk about the rights of Kashmiris when in power and infact compromise with that.”
“There dual nature has been understood by the people of the state fully now and in the coming election voters will give them a befitting reply by voting in favour of Awami Muthada Mahaz (AMM) candidates in the assembly elections,” he said.
Hakim, who is important leader of AMM, said there aim is to serve people and to provide employment to the youth. “Our program is not only development but to bring India and Pakistan on negotiation table so that Jammu and Kashmir becomes peaceful and prosperous,” he said.
In an emotional speech, the MLA Khansahib urged his voters to remain aware of those opportunist politicians who have always ditched them. “You are my strength and I am your. On December 9, we will give those opportunist politicians a reply like we did in 2002 and 2008. The security deposits of their candidates should be forfeited,” he added.
Amid slogans like “Raaj Karee Koss, Hakim Soob Bei Koss” (Who will rule us, none other than Hakim), the PDF chief said, “In the last 12 years my prime concern was to develop Khansahib constituency and I am happy that lot of development occurred during this period. Now is the time to consolidate the gains made in the last 12 years.”
CPI (M) state secretary and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami and DP (N) chief and Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir, who accompanied Hakim also spoke on the occasion. “Today we are announcing the verdict of Khansahib constituency. Today Hakim sahib has proved that he is the undisputed leader of Budgam and his political opponents are no match to him,” Tarigami said in his speech.
Mir echoed Tarigami’s views saying, “Elections have just remained a formality in Khansahib constituency as people have today announced by turning up in thousands what they want. Hakim sahib has played a crucial role in government formation in the past and he will play an important role in the coming formation of the government,” Mir added.
