Intense protests erupted in North Kashmir’s Langate area when slain Raja Begum was buried on Wednesday morning.
Raja Begum was shot dead by forces on Tuesday after protests erupted following an alleged molestation bid by an army man in main Handwara town.
Three person including Raja Begum were shot dead by forces in ensuing battle thereafter on Tuesday afternoon.
Raja Begum (54) was rushed to SKIMS Srinagar after being hit by a bullet in her head. Her dead body reached her home this morning.
She was laid to rest while the two other deceased are yet to be buried.
“Heavy pro-freedom and anti-India slogans were going on when forces resorted to tear gas shelling,” eye witnesses said. “Mourners were returning from graveyard after Raja Begum was laid to rest and clashes started.”
