HDFC bank bagged three awards at the FE Best Bank Awards function in Mumbai on Thursday. MD of the bank was awarded with the Best Banker award and the HDFC bank with the Best Bank award in the New Private sector category. The bank was also named as the winner in the strength and soundness category.

Two executive directors, Paresh Sukthankar and Harish Engineer also received the awards for Best Bank and Strength & Soundness respectively.

Other winners include Kotak Mahindra 2nd Best Bank in the private sector, Bank of Baroda – best PSU bank, Corporation Bank – runner-up (PSU category), HSBC Bank – Best foreign Bank, Deutsche Bank – runner-up (foreign bank category), Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank – Best Bank, old private sector banks category and Karur Vysya Bank, runner-up (old private sector bank).

The Lifetime Achievement award was conferred upon Y V Reddy, 14th Finance Commission chairman, while State Bank of India won the award for Initiative.

The criteria for selecting winners were strength and soundness, growth, efficiency, profitability and credit quality.  While Yes Bank won the award for growth, Standard Chartered Bank was adjudged the most profitable bank, and Deutsche Bank has been judged winner for both efficiency and credit quality.
