SRINAGAR: The pilgrimage to the Shri Shiv Khori shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district was temporarily suspended on Sunday following heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions in the Ransoo base camp area, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu announced.
In a post on X, the Divisional Commissioner said the decision was taken in view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of heavy rainfall and the prevailing inclement weather in Ransoo, the base camp for the revered cave shrine.
The official said the pilgrimage had been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of devotees.
Pilgrims have been advised to defer their visit until weather conditions improve. The Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board is continuously monitoring the situation and will take further decisions based on the evolving weather conditions.
The administration has also urged devotees to check the latest official updates before planning their journey to the shrine to avoid inconvenience and ensure their safety.
The suspension comes amid widespread rainfall across the Jammu region, with authorities on alert as the IMD has forecast more heavy rain in the coming days.
