Congress party high command will take the decision of pre-poll in alliance in the state at an appropriate time, Congress General Secretary and In charge J&K Affairs Mohan Prakash Saturday said, “To comment on the issue (pre-poll alliance with National Conference) at the moment is premature. But whenever the issue will arise, the party high command will take a decision.”
Talking to a local news agency, KNS on the sidelines of a party rally in Ganderbal, he said, “The Congress leader said that his party always gives priority to dialogue.”
While calling the recent attacks on Sarabjit Singh and Sonaullah as unfortunate incidents, he said “It shouldn’t have happened. Pakistan is a neighboring country and our policy has always been to keep good relations with neighbors. Some people don’t want friendship between the two countries but we want to defeat them.”
On fake drug issue in which a senior Congress leader is allegedly involved, he said, “The probe in the matter is already going on. Congress leaders should avoid issuing statements against each other on the issue.”
State Congress President Prof Saifuddin Soz who was accompanying Prakash in the rally while talking to KNS said that his party would double its tally in the coming Assembly elections. “People of the state have full faith in Congress and we are receiving whole hearted support from every corner of the state,” he said.
Asked whether execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru has dented the image of Congress in Kashmir Valley, he said, “These are just rumors. I have organised rallies in old city areas where youth have wholeheartedly participated.”
The rally had been organized on the occasion of 24th death Anniversary of late Shiekh Jabbar father of senior Congress leader and District President Ganderal Shiekh Ishfaq Jabbar.
Mohan Prakash was the Chief Guest on the occasion while other leaders hwo spoke on the occasion included PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Tourism, Gulam Ahmad Mir, K K Amla, Bashir Ahmad Magrey MLC, Mohammad Anwar Bhat, Shiekh Ishfaq, Master Mohammad Maqbool, Farooq Andrabi and some Mahila Congress leaders.
