According to details, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Arun Palli and Justice Rajnesh Oswal passed the direction while hearing a set of connected Public Interest Litigations pertaining to healthcare issues in JK.

The Court observed that the matter, including a PIL filed by Citizens Forum Jammu in 2018, has remained pending for years, with multiple affidavits submitted by the authorities in compliance with earlier directions.

During the proceedings, the Amicus Curiae highlighted various suggestions already placed before the Court, including district-wise availability of medical staff and issues concerning non-gazetted and Class-IV employees in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

Counsel appearing for the respondents sought time to present the updated ground position. The Bench granted one week for submission of a detailed status report, directing that it must clearly outline the progress made and steps taken in line with the recommendations put forward.

The case has been listed for further hearing on May 20, 2026. (KNC)
