SRINAGAR : A residential house was completely gutted in a fire incident in the Jamadar Bijhama area of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.
The house belonged to Bashir Ahmad Badan and Nazir Ahmad Badar, sons of Matwali Badar, residents of Bijhama.
Locals said the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. Soon after the blaze broke out, residents and a police team from Police Station Bijhama rushed to the spot and joined efforts to bring the flames under control.
The fire was eventually doused through the joint efforts of locals and police, preventing it from spreading further.
Residents said the poor condition of the approach road hampered firefighting efforts, with a fire tender unable to reach the site in time.
The incident caused extensive damage to the residential structure, they said. (GNS)
