SRINAGAR: Questioning the decisions made on August 5, 2019, Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone questioned on Wednesday how the Governor could give concurrence on behalf of more than one crore people of Jammu & Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court, Lone asked whether the Governor was a superhuman being who could sign on behalf of one crore people of J&K.

At that time, J&K’s governor, Satya Pal Malik, had given concurrence on behalf of the J&K Government for the constitutional changes effected by the Union Government on August 5 & 6, 2019.

Lone, who was accompanied by party spokesperson Adnan Ashraf Lone, stated that improvements in law and order were not a new thing and could not be used to justify the abrogation of Article 370.

Lone pointed out that the Constituent Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir could only make decisions concerning Article 370.

“There was so much political arrogance that the Legislative Council which existed at that time was not even consulted,” he said.

People’s Conference has challenged the decisions made on August 5, 2019, in the Supreme Court. Advocate Rajeev Dhavan is presenting the party’s arguments in the case. (KNO)
