Mirwaiz led faction of Hurriyat Conference Friday paid flying tributes to the ‘first martyr of Kashmir freedom movement- Maqbool Bhat- during an extraordinary meeting conducted by the conglomerate’.

According to a statement issued by the spokesman of the conglomerate, the party further resolved that the mission of martyrs would continue till it reaches its logical conclusion. “The participants said the history is testimony to the fact that empires have crumbled before the revolutionary movements. In the light of these historical realities, it becomes clear that by remembering the martyrs of the revolution, the freedom movement gets rejuvenated with full zeal and vigor towards their goals- freedom from occupation. The martyrdom anniversary of Maqbool Bhat strengthens that belief in Kashmiris” the statement reads.

He said by hanging martyr Maqbool Bhat at the gallows in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, the guardians of the Indian democracy thought they have uprooted the movement of freedom struggle from Jammu and Kashmir. “However, the history has proved, his martyrdom brought resolve, determination and inspiration for Kashmiris to fight for their birth right- right to self-determination.  The participant informed that the movement’s liveliness proves that Maqbool Bhat is alive in Kashmir”.

“The APHC supports the JKLF programme in connection with observing the 29 martyrdom anniversary of shaheed Maqbool Bhat. The conglomerate appealed people to heed to the programme of JKLF and make it a success or the sake of ongoing freedom struggle in Jammu and Kashmir”, the spokesman added.
